Half-Blood Prince

Loved it!

I read a few spoiler posts, but decided I should go ahead and put mine down before being influenced by what others have said (too late, but now I can limit it, at least).

I knew Dumbledore had to die at some point, and I strongly suspected it would be in this book. Still, it was very sad. And I figured it would be a sacrificial death, and it totally was.

After initial suspicions that Draco’s job was to kill Harry, I realized that his target was Dumbledore.

Snape is good. Before starting the book, I thought he was good. Throughout the book I began to doubt and wonder. After he killed Dumbledore, I knew he was good. His making the Unbreakable Vow was his determining that the cause was more valuable than his life. He was willing to die for Dumbledore. But Dumbledore said no. Dumbledore told Snape to kill him, if it came to that. Snape didn’t want to. That’s why Dumbledore pleaded with him in the end.

Too bad pretty much everyone now thinks Snape is bad. Like somebody said earlier in the book, I think Mr. Weasley, it isn’t about trusting Snape. It’s about trusting Dumbeldore. And, though he says he is ‘Dumbledore’s man, through and through’, Harry isn’t quite there yet. He needs to believe everything that Dumbledore says, not just the things he wants to believe. Still, even the Apostles were dejected after Jesus died, and didn’t have faith in all that he had said.

Um… I thought the section where Harry and Dumbledore were talking about the prophecy was rock awesome.

Yay for Ron and Hermione maturing in their relationship, and yay for Harry and Ginny.

I guess that’s about it for now.
