I got a spindle of cd-rs today from Best Buy, and it had an offer from eMusic.com for 100 Free mp3s. So I signed up. They’ve got a limited catalog, mostly because it’s indieish sort of stuff. But, I can find my fill of good indie music. So far I’ve downloaded Sufjan Stevens’ Michigan record, and the self titled record by Stavesacre. Stavesacre is a friend of mine‘s favorite band, so I thought I owed it to him to use up 11 of my 100 downloads to check them out. They’ve got a bunch of stuff by Pedro the Lion and Mason Jennings… two artists I have a few mp3s of, and really like, but have never bought full cds of. Now that can change. Except I’m still not buying the cds.

Anyhow… if you don’t get the Verbatim cds, you can still sign up for 50 free mp3s. cool deal. Even cooler… if you get a second spindle, you can do it again with a different email address and different credit card (did I mention you need to enter credit card info to sign up?).
