sweethearting?
Jason Kottke ponders about pinging another cell phone:
Pings would be perfect for situations when texting or a phone call is too time consuming, distracting, or takes you out of the flow of your present experience. If you call your husband on the way home from work every night and say the same thing each time, perhaps a ping would be better…you wouldn’t have to call and your husband wouldn’t have to stop what he was doing to answer the phone. You could even call it the “sweetheart ping” or “sweethearting”…in the absence of a prearraged “ping me when you’re leaving”, you could ping someone to let them know you’re thinking about them.
Ugh. Heaven forbid taking time to actually talk to your spouse…
Parties
This weekend was a weekend of parties.
Friday, as is our custom, was Pizza & Pop night. That’s always a good time. Party #1.
Saturday we threw a small party for Geneva’s 4th birthday. Happy Birthday Daddy’s big girl! Everything went smoothly there, and a good time was had by all. At Geneva’s request, Megan made a strawberry cake with pink frosting. We also made some cupcakes of the same style so we’d have enough for everyone present. Geneva was the Faerie Princess… complete with flowy dress, wand, and wings. Party #2.
Sunday, at church, a baby was baptized. A baby was baptized last Sunday also. So Saturday evening, we went to a party celebrating those two babies’ baptisms. We sang some psalms, and then ate and played and all that rot. Fun, fun. For this party Megan made some cheesey spinach square things. Wrapped in phyllo dough. YUM. SO GOOD. definitely the best thing at the part (no offense to the other ladies that made food. It was all delicious. But Megan’s was the best!). Party #3. And we only used half of the phyllo dough… so Megan is finding a recipe to use the rest of it. YUM! I don’t care what it’s going to be (though I did throw a request in for baklava)… it’s going to be delicious! Party #3.5?
Um. So. Good weekend.
