Of Minor Prophets And Their Prostitute Wives
Pedro the Lion
All the time you were burning my letters
You were only acting the part
You think without me you’ll get on much better
But you don’t even know your own heart.
Come home darlin’, come home quickly
Come home darlin’, all is forgiven
So come home quickly
I treated you as if you were a princess
You treated me like a cop
I gave you boundries to save you from certain death
Dangling from the end of your rope
Come home darlin’, come home quickly
Come home darlin’, all is forgiven
So come home quickly
But you’re still playin’
for a love you’ll never find
outside these arms of mine
The whole town is one step behind you
With the hangman on call
They’ve got the judge and you’re convicted without a plea
But darlin’ they will listen to me
Darlin’ they will listen to me
Darlin’ they will listen to me

I love that song
)
I have seen Pedro the Lion in concert at least five or six times, without traveling anywhere. David Bazan was good about always playing in Chapel Hill every tour!
Lucky!
If I had known then what I know now, I would have driven the few hours down there to see him each time.
I only just recently actually got whole albums of Pedro the Lion. Before that, I only had free mp3s I picked up here and there on the internet. And even those were neglected for far too long.
I got hooked on him when I first heard “Lullaby” — sometime in ’98 or something like that… It’s weird, now my little sister (sophomore in college) really likes PTL, Sufjan, etc.
kristen gave me a mix cd several years ago that included this song and it remains one of favorites.
This verse always gets me:
I treated you as if you were a princess
You treated me like a cop
I gave you boundries to save you from certain death
Dangling from the end of your rope
