A Request

Posted by: richard   in Everyday Things

For all of you bloggers using WordPress… It would please me greatly if you were to install the Subscribe-to-Comments plugin on your blog.

It allows individuals to subscribe via email to comments on your blog. I post a comment, and if I enable this, I will receive an email whenever a new comment is posted. It’s really nice in this synidcated internet. I read most all the blogs I read via bloglines. Which means I don’t see comments unless I click through to the actual post. Which I typically only do if there’s a comment I want to leave, myself (or if the blog author doesn’t put full posts in their feed). And then, when I leave a comment, I’ll often forget I left it… since I won’t visit the blog and see the post from yesterday, with a change in comment number. So, when I forget, it’d be nice to get an email about new comments.

Or, a feed for comments would be nice. That’s another option.

The campaign has started. All shall be converted. :-D

A little hint for you… per-entry comment feeds are always enabled in WordPress. Just add /feed/ to the end of the permalink URI, and you’ll get an RSS 2.0 feed for comments on that entry. I still prefer e-mail notification, but for feed freaks, that option is always, there even if there isn’t a specific link to the comments feed.

Ah, thanks for the tip! I prefer email notification, too… but for those refusing to play along, I will have my way with them regardless.

Funny . . . I installed that plugin before I even saw this “request” post. You’re welcome! :D
