AjaxWrite
Here’s a nice little web application. Works just like MS Word, but it’s all in your browser. And it’s free, and does’t even require registration.

Neat, but one thing that would take this webapp to the next level would be to somehow load your existing fonts and make them available in ajaxWrite. Frankly, I don’t see how this can be done in an unobtrusive manner (if at all, given security considerations, which I’m all for), but it would be novel…
Yeah, the fonts are the problem. You can’t use all your fonts, and you also limited to a set number of options of sizes. If I want Palatino Linotype, 9pt- so sorry.
But it’s a good option for people that want to share/create/edit documents in Word format, but don’t want to buy Word. Of course, there are other options for that. But this one is really easy.
Web 2.0, here we come! This is a nice, basic solution. Sure, there will be wishlists out the wazoo, but this is a good starting point. Microsoft better be thinking about what they’re gonna do next – their days of selling Office for an ungodly price are numbered.
