Best Article Ever
I think this may well be the best article to ever grace the pages of Credenda/Agenda magazine.
I’ve probably read it twenty times over the years, and it never ceases to make me laugh out loud.
Milk comes from cows!
Artificial Muscles
This is a pretty cool concept. Plastics that stretch when a high voltage charge is applied to them are being used to mimic animal muscles. They’ve got a ways to go, but they speculate on having robots moving about like animals.
More Wright Lectures
Here are two more lectures that NT Wright delivered while in Roanoke last week…

Thanks to Rick for pointing me there.
my comments
If you haven’t seen the new box to the right, or have seen it and wondered what it is… it’s from cocomments.com, and cool little tool used to track your commenting around the web. So when I post comments on other folks blogs, they will show up in the that box. You can keep up with what I’m saying around the ‘net.
It also tracks the conversations for me, notifying me when a new comment is posted to any of the posts that I’ve commented on. Fun, fun. It can also include my messageboard posts, but I thought that was bit much, and exclude them from tracking.
There’s even a feed if you want to keep up with my comments without visiting my blog.
Anyhow. Enjoy.
Bible Reading
I guess today is the quarterly 2007 Goals Update…
Megan and I are on track with our bible reading. We got behind for a while there. At one point we were about 20 chapters behind. But as of last night, we were caught up with the schedule. Which puts us about two thirds of the way through 1 Samuel. Which is a very exciting time in God’s story of redemption.
As for my other goals, if you’re interested…. I haven’t finished a book since January, and still no grad school applications submitted.
Making Progress
So, I’m still working on my goal of the 5K race this fall. Yesterday was a stepping stone day, as I “ran” a two mile course. And it didn’t take me much longer than the just-over-one-mile course that I’ve previously been running. Which means I’m running more. I also mostly have ditched the program that Megan found. I’ve found that my body is getting used to the strain, and the minute on/minute off thing doesn’t really push me. So I pretty much run for as long as I can (which is getting longer), and then walk for as short as I can to get my breath back (which is getting shorter).
So, while I’m still a pathetic loser in the running department, I think I’m making progress, and maybe in another month or so I’ll be able to keep a steady pace for a whole mile.
Mi iPod est broked
So, Megan went for a run last week while it was raining, and, because I said she should despite her concern that the rain would damage it, she took the iPod. Well, it worked the while she was out, and then sat on the desk until the next morning when I tried to use it. And the buttons didn’t work.
I tried plugging it into the wall to reset it, restoring the software, and also opening the case and letting it air out for a day or so… all the no avail. It appears to be dead. Presently, it is stuck at the language selection menu.
Ifixit is a company run by christian folks that sells all sorts of Apple parts, including iPod parts. I can get a new faceplate for $40… but I don’t know if that will fix my problem. What do you think? Is it worth the chance of throwing away $40?
I tend to think not.
ABC
Just a few moments ago we were finishing up with dinner. Tonight was a late dinner for us. We usually sit down at six o’clock to eat, but tonight was over an hour late. This cuts into the girls after dinner time, as they go to sleep at 8:30. So, as we were finishing up I asked Megan if she thought the girls could handle going to the L-I-B-R-A-R-Y. It was decided they could, so I told them to finish up their plates and we would go. Geneva and Ashley asked where, but Fiona said she knew where we were going. Megan asked where, and Fiona said “A B C!”
Wright lecture
NT Wright recently spoke at Roanoke College. I wasn’t able to attend because I was off judging a science fair, but the audio is now available for download. You can find it here.
Be aware it’s a very large file… 90mb. Also, the second link under Wright says it is for a video file, but it’s actually an link to audio of Mark Noll’s lecture on the global south (which may also be worth checking out).
