you know, when typing that title i got ‘smorgasbord’ on the first try. ha. anyway, so much happened since the last time i wrote, i find it hard to decide on the one thing i wanted to highlight. i think probably clemson’s miracle finish tuesday night was the best part of the week. i’m glad some good breaks are finally happening for clemson’s basketball team. they have had some really bad breaks this year, and i felt so good for the two seniors who played the integral part in the awesome finish. it was a miracle in itself that i was able to see the highlight on sportscenter. i couldn’t see it tuesday night because my cable was out, and the next morning i only had a few minutes to watch while i got ready for work. but in the five minutes i was watching, the highlight came on. that certainly got my heart pumping for the day.
also included this week washolding a super bowl ring last night at the hornets’ game. my friend john mark and i ended up sitting in front of one of the patriots’ coaches, so that was kind of a once in a lifetime thing. and, since they shipped the 2nd external tank today, (i work at the plant where they make the external fuel tank for the shuttle) a group of us at work got to tour one of the booster recovery ships. this site shows pictures. the ships also tow the external tanks on their journey from new orleans to florida as well as a myriad of other things. i thought it was cool.
today i really worked, i finally finished overhauling one of the flower beds in the front of my house. the builders were nice enough to leave chunks of concrete of various sizes, brick pieces, and one empty caulking gun in the dirt in the one flower bed i dug through. i removed that stuff of course and mixed in the new soil i bought from walmart. the bed looks much nicer now than it did, so i’m hoping i’ll be able to keep it that way. i’m not sure when i’ll tackle the other (and much smaller) part, probably next weekend possibly.
and finally, i’d like to say i’m a letterman fan. i think leno’s jokes are sometimes trite and simple. or maybe i should say not sarcastic enough. seeing this article kind of made me laugh. as if the news media is not beating the dead horse that is the jackson trial into the ground already…talk about ‘wake me when its over’. leno actually tried to get a gag order lifted so he could write jokes in his monologue about it. somebody tell his writers to try to write about things not already being force fed the public.
one more thing, i may have written about how i purchased keane’s cd hopes and fears. i listened to it on the way to work friday, it was perfect. it was pretty foggy, and the music just fit the situation. it was great. i’ve been listening to it a lot lately, and have grown to love the cd. i recommend it, i think they’ll get pretty big in ’05….along with mute math.
