tonight i fought a lot of baton rouge traffic to make it out to the big mall where the only best buy in BR is located. it took me about 20 minutes i guess with traffic, and i had left about 6:45. after walking up and down the aisles, i had no luck finding the new ryan adams. i checked my watch, sure enough, its the 27th. i come to find out they had received only one new release and it was some rap group. i don’t remember the name, but i think it involved an area code. i kindly ask for a suggestion as to where i could go next. i get back on the interstate to the super target. the album was listed on the rack, but they had none in stock. what is the point of labeling the rack when you don’t have 50% of the albums that are supposed to go there? just when i’m about to just forget about it, i make it to walmart. they only had two ryan adams records, and yes, both were jacksonville city nights.
it was $3 more than i would normally have paid at a BB but i figure it was worth it not to have to drive around more another day. my first impression of it is much more honky tonk/country than i thought it would be, even the songs i had heard back in june.
some observations of the night:
1) each store stocks way too much ac/dc and bryan adams.
2) BR traffic still sucks
3) apparently the cold roses emblem is a fixture now, which is good because the sticker on my car is fading to just be b&w
