the people in that house over there…

a couple of weeks ago, one of the houses on my street went up for sale, and not 3 days later, a little sign that said ‘too late!’ was put on the for sale sign. its quite amazing the housing market in my neighborhood, especially after katrina. yesterday they had a big moving truck come and sit outside their house while they loaded it up. it wasn’t completely loaded until maybe midnight last night. i’ve been jealous ever since i saw the ‘too late!’ sign go up. they are moving! but to where? it seems exciting to move. i want to move, but i’m weighed down with getting my house fixed. i’m in day #2 of getting the roof fixed correctly, and then i hope to quickly move back to the sheetrock. not sure when the floor will be in, but i figure by the end of february, it’ll be done.

oh, and about nashville and the girl….she’s cool, but i know i’ll have to move there to go further. so we’ll see. like i said, things are kind of on hold with the moving for now, so i’m trying to concentrate on the house, THEN everything else. i had a blast in nashville though, so i was really glad i went on the trip. hope to travel again soon.

into the great wide open…

ever since i read that book, ‘if you want to walk on water, you’ve to get out of the boat‘, i have this thing where i can’t not do something. if something seems worth doing, i’d rather find out and have it disappoint me than for me never to go do it. in this vein, i have asked out a hot triathlete, gone on a blind date, etc because i’d rather find out and fail than sit around going “man, i wonder if i would have actually asked her out…”

all this to say i’m going to nashville this weekend to see about a girl. its definitely the blindest of blind dates i’ve been on. but i trust my match maker, and i figured ‘why not?’ wish me luck. if you’re sitting around this weekend, raise a cold one for me.

anticipation…

so this past weekend, i was supposed to get the sheetrock put up and then the final piece of the puzzle would be the new floor. well, now i’m looking at having to get the roof fixed again because it was not done right the first time. the whole house repair thing is so ridiculous. its not that you have to only wait a long time for things to get moving, its once they get moving, there’s all kinds of delays, etc. very frustrating. i made a pledge to jacob today that after our houses get fully repaired, we’re going to have a party, and celebrate our months and months of frustration being over by getting plastered.

at the end of february, i’m finally going to see coldplay. after being denied TWICE last fall, i’m going to see them in houston. the following week is mardi gras, so i’m thinking i could take a road trip somewhere. its about two days to arizona, but only one day to kansas. anybody want to go? the problem is i don’t know anyone in kansas or oklahoma, but i’m pretty sure i know someone in dallas, st louis, louisville, nashville, etc. basically, i’m looking at a route in a circle, completely around arkansas. i need to meet more people from the internet apparently, i don’t know enough in enough places.

widescreen dvds and home repair…

so i went to circuit city yesterday in hopes of picking up ‘about a boy‘ since mike had talked about it and i found it for a really good price. i had to search around but finally found the rack where it was stored. they luckily had two copies, but as i peered closer, i noticed, ‘fullscreen’. i thought they only sold fullscreen dvds at walmart for people who say things like “I can’t stand the black bars on the tv!” so i came home and ordered off a website and saved $4. i showed those corporate bastards to understock their store!

in other news, i had my furnace repaired today. thankfully a warm front came through last week, which made the week and a half without heat somewhat bearable. i’m thankful the repair did not cost over $100 too. i’m spending enough on house repairs. speaking of house repairs, i should have them all done, including the floor, by the end of the month. happy january indeed.

oh, and i posted a top 10 over on EH. i included some album cover pictures. had to again follow mike’s lead.
