i almost went a whole month! i’m going to make a commitment tonight to post once a day for the rest of april. what i write may not be good every time, but i make this solemn vow to you my readers.

a couple of weeks ago i had a birthday. it was alright, it would have been better had LSU won their game against UCLA, but the weekend started off pretty great that friday. things at work have been awkward to say the least, because i’m in the process of actually changing departments, so my old supervisors don’t really know how to treat me since i still sit at my desk. “do i give him work?” “do i order him around?” “can i still act like a jackass around him with sarcastic comments?” anyway, that’s not what i’m trying to talk about really, more about the staff meeting we had. now, usually when someone has a birthday, a staff meeting is called for a cover for the party. but i hadn’t been talking about my birthday coming up, i hadn’t reminded anyone….so i was not expecting a cake to be brought in for me. and besides, i don’t really work in the department anymore, but i had gotten an invite, so i went. so after my manager finishes giving his “i go to these big important meetings and here’s what was said” talk, my friend laurin says “its scott’s birthday” and gets up to go get something. my boss is surprised, but chuckles “how old are you scott?” in the words of my friend andy, “don’t worry about that.” so laurin had ordered and picked up a cake for me to bring in to work that day, so i was not forgotten after all. that made me feel so good, just that kind of gesture. i don’t ask much, but when my friends do things for me without me having to say anything, it just reminds me how important they are in my life. now the bbq i had at my house that saturday wasn’t the best because of the previously stated LSU game, plus jacob bailed at the last minute (what a bum!). but it was nice that at least some of my friends came, and we had a good time anyway. and my friends megan and corey brought me a bottle of jack with some recipes and a cookie cake.
