Finally…
So the den computer was goin’ screwy today. It wouldn’t connect to the Internet. My laptop and my sister’s computer were both working fine, so I knew it wasn’t the router. I went through every possible solution I could think of and ended up having to put in a new Ethernet card. Fortunately, the great folks at Comcast had sent me an Ethernet PCI Card with my cable modem, so I had it to put in.
Then, this sucker STILL wouldn’t connect.
I went through more possibilities with some of the geeky guys from rmfo.net (Thanks Smiley and GFM), but still no dice.
Finally, I call up my computer genius cousin.
And what is his suggestion? Turn off the modem, then the router, then the computer, then turn them back on in that order and see if it works.
It did.
After all that crap, it’s all it took.
What a day

Well, anyone who suggests rebooting as first resort is not much of a genius.

By default, I’m the resident computer geek at the school where I work (boy, did I have them fooled!).
Can’t tell you how many times the “turn-it-off-turn-it-on-again” remedy has made me look like a genius.

He only suggested that after I told him all the other crap we did…
Granted, I should have thought to reboot EVERYTHING…but I only thought to reboot the computer…
Silly me
