EDIT – I changed the tracklisting…there were a couple of songs I had to add in..so I took one or two out as well to make room.
So I decided to start a category about mix cds…because I make on average two a week…and have a bit of an obsession with them. I joined the rmfo mix cd circle and drew richard’s name….and the title he gave me was “Look out, that monkey has a gun!”
So…I didn’t have much to go on as far as inspiration for songs….but a couple came to mind…a few more seemed to fit well…
anyway, the final result is a mix cd that really doesn’t have anything to do with the title…which is still fitting…because the title is random…as are the songs.
Yeah…
anyway, here’s the tracklisting
1. The Gambler – Mike Doughty (Kenny Rogers cover…this cover just entertains me….so I HAD to include it)
2. I Bet You Look Good On the Dance Floor – Arctic Monkeys
3. To Be Young (Is To Be Sad, To Be High) – Ryan Adams
4. My Father’s Gun – Elton John
5. Jungle Trail – Steven Delopoulos
6. Company Car – Switchfoot
7. Narrow Escape – Ray LaMontagne
8. Street Spirit (Fade Out) – Radiohead (my fave Radiohead song EVER)
9. Speed of Sound of Loneliness – Amos Lee
10. Your Ex-Lover is Dead – Stars
11. Buckets of Rain – Blue Merle (Bob Dylan cover)
12. Our Secrets – Helen Stellar
13. C.C. Rider – Old Crow Medicine Show
14. Float On – Iron Horse (a BLUEGRASS modest mouse cover…heck yes)

I stole this from Daniel, who stole it from Alisa.
Seven Things to Do Before I Die (Lord willing):
1. Release an album. But I’d have to record one first.
2. Have something of mine published.
3. Get the girl, already (I’m keeping this in, that Daniel put…because it’s one of mine too…no, I’m not a thiever…gah).
4. Do a stand-up gig….just once. Only once.
5. Live in my car for a year, driving around the country.
6. Live at the beach for at least a year.
7. Own a Volkswagen van. An old, hippie one.
Seven Things I Cannot Do:
1. Play the piano.
2. Eat 60 hot wings in one sitting.
3. Watch Finding Neverland without wanting to be Peter Pan.
4. Watch Finding Forrester or Orange County without wanting to be a writer.
5. Watch spanish television without wondering what the heck is going on.
6. Eat iceberg lettuce in a salad. It’s just gross. You gotta go with the spring mix.
7. Tune my guitar by ear. I try and try…but get nowhere.
Seven Things that Attract Me to My Significant Other: (I don’t have one of these….but I’ll put things that attract me to women in general)
1. Love handles (I say love handles because I don’t know what else to call that part of their body connecting their stomach to their hips….I don’t mean it in the derogatory, negatively connotated way most people mean it. I love that part of any woman’s body. I think this stems from my love of the “middle school dance,” when you stand a foot apart from each other, with the male’s arms on the female’s “love handles”, and the female’s arms on the male’s shoulders…and there is little if any movement. In any event, if I am dating a girl I will surely show her affection by walking up behind her and placing my hand on this area. Here, we feel at home….or at least I do)
2. The eyes (I’m a sucker for blue/green eyes. Especially the ones that pierce through you as if they know what you’re thinking, as if they see right through you into your very soul).
3. The smile (Disarming, yet so alarming….).
4. The laugh (When she laughs, you want to hug her. You feel as if everything is okay, because her laugh so disarms you….it takes you away from every problem you’ve preoccupied yourself with)
5. The sigh that comes after the laugh (This is a girl thing. I’ve rarely heard men, after laughing so hard, sigh a deep sigh of relief quite like that of a woman. It’s endearing).
6. Her hugs (I’m a hugger. And, if she’s down, I would be willing to spoon).
7. Her drive (All the women I’ve been attracted to in my life have had an incredible drive. You can tell when they want something…and they usually get it. You respect them)
Seven Things I Say (or write!) Most Often:
1. “Hola.â€
2. “Hey there…cutie.â€
3. “I’ll take that as a maybe.â€
4. “Much love….and reese cups.â€
5. “No way.â€
6. “F’real.â€
7. “I love you.â€

3. The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning
4. Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller
5. The Holy Bible by God, through assorted ragamuffins
6. A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
7. Through Painted Deserts by Donald Miller (I actually haven’t finished this one yet…but had to include it in the list, because I’ve totally loving it)
Seven Movies I Would Watch Over and Over Again:
1. Orange County
2. What About Bob?
3. Almost Famous
4. Swingers
5. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
6. That Thing You Do!
7. Finding Neverland
Seven Songs That I Can’t Live Without (I added this one…c’mon now, you gotta have music):
1. “Coming To Life” by the Normals (this song got me through the end of high school…and helped me realize I didn’t need a girl to live)
2. “The Best I Can” by the Normals (see above)
3. “After The Last Tear Falls” by Andrew Peterson (wow…just wow)
4. “Oh My Sweet Carolina” by Ryan Adams (a new addition to the list….but it almost makes me cry…every time)
5. “Everything” by Lifehouse (my favorite sing at the top of your lungs during worship song)
6. “Let That Be Enough” by Switchfoot (my favorite late-night contemplative song)
7. “All I Know” by Matt Wertz (sung it for years now…it’s practically become a part of me)
Seven People I Want to Join in:
1. Katey
2. Trey
3. the Sage
4. Andy (he’s due an update…gah)
